Google Maps Street View

For a little while now, Google Maps has been adding street views. This allows you to see the street as if you were walking down it in person. They just added Atlanta to the list, so I decided to look up some of the homes of my ancestors.

From the 1930 census, I knew that my Great-Great-Grandparents had lived at 205 Savannah St., Atlanta in a mill village called Cabbagetown. I even have a photo of their son standing with their car in front of the house.

Armed with an address and an old photo of the house, I checked out Google Maps. Though not 100% accurate, the view plunked me down on the right street. I was able to see some house numbers and, buy comparing the map with my old photo, I was able to find my G-G-Grandparents house as it stands today.
